How To Book An Appointment

Urgent Same Day Appointments:

Routine Appointments:

You will be asked to provide some brief information about your healthcare to a member of our team on the telephone or in person at our reception desk.

GP and Nurse appointments are available to pre-book via our reception team at Penny Lane Surgery on Monday and Tuesdays (6.30pm to 8pm) and at other local practices on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Please speak to a receptionist to pre-book an appointment.

PATCHS (requesting an appointment online)

For routine or non-urgent issues, you can request an appointment online by filling out an online consultation form via PATCHS. We will respond to you as soon as possible, usually within two working days.

If you require any other adjustments before your appointment, please let us know.

What to do when we are closed

We are open 8am to 6.30pm via telephone and 8am to 6pm in person.

If you need urgent help or advice, particularly during the evenings and weekends when our practice is closed, please contact NHS 111. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 111.nhs.uk or by dialling 111.

NHS 111 is staffed by fully trained advisors and clinicians who can provide over the phone advice and can arrange face to face appointments with an out of hours GP, at a local walk-in centre, or a local hospital A&E department if required.

Nurse Appointments:

Patients can see a Practice Nurse by pre-booking an appointment in advance. Please contact reception on 0151 733 2800 to book an appointment.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer online booking of Practice Nurse appointments as appointments with the Nurse vary in length depending on the reason for the appointment and this function is not currently available on our online access website.

Cancelling Appointments:

Please cancel any appointments you are unable to attend. This ensures the appointment can be booked by a patient who does need to see a GP. You can cancel your appointment online using the NHS app, in person or via telephone 0151 733 2800.

We had 74 appointments last month that were not attended or cancelled. This equates to over 12 hours of wasted GP and Practice Nurse time in one month and costs the NHS over £175 million each year.

Home Visits:

If you are housebound and need medical advice or treatment, please contact us via telephone on 0151 733 2800 as early as possible to request a home visit. Please be aware that we are only able to visit those who are truly unable to leave the house. If you are able to attend hospital appointments, we would expect you to be able to attend a GP appointment.
