Contraception and Sexual Health

Contraception:

Penny Lane Surgery provides contraceptive and family planning advice which includes;

• Chlamydia screening
• Free condoms
• Advice about long acting reversible contraception
• Pre-conception advice

Please make an appointment with our Practice Nurse for contraceptive or family planning advice.

 

Long Acting Reversible Contraception

We also run contraceptive coil and implant clinics with a GP. Please contact surgery on 0151 733 2800 or via an onlinr PATCHS consultation to discuss a coil fitting with a GP.

 

Contraceptive Pill:

Patients can obtain a regular prescription for a contraceptive pill by contacting surgery via e-consultation or on 0151 733 2800 to discuss in more detail with a GP.

 

Emergency Contraception:

Patients can access emergency contraception online via www.SH.UK as long as they have a Liverpool postcode and are 16 years and over

 

Sexual Health:

Patients can book an appointment with our Practice Nurse to obtain confidential sexual health advice, screening and free condoms.

Cervical Smears:

All women aged between 25 and 64 are invited for cervical screening. Women aged between 25 and 49 are invited for testing every three years, and women aged between 50 and 64 are invited every five years.

Being screened regularly means that any abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix can be identified at an early stage and, if necessary, treated to stop cancer developing.
